Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the learner will be better able to:
Differentiate immunologic and radiographic findings characteristic of allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis, including elevated total and Aspergillus-specific immunoglobulin E levels, eosinophilia, mucus plugging, and central bronchiectasis.
Screen patients with persistent asthma symptoms or cystic fibrosis–related pulmonary exacerbations for clinical and laboratory features suggestive of allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis.
Assess clinical history, symptom patterns, pulmonary function changes, and radiographic findings that raise suspicion for allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis in patients with difficult-to-control respiratory disease.
Develop effective communication and collaboration practices with the interprofessional healthcare team, including clinicians, pulmonologists, pharmacists, nurses, and respiratory therapists, to coordinate comprehensive care and optimize outcomes for patients with allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis.
