Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the learner will be better able to:
Assess patients for dysbarism based on clinical manifestations, diagnostic results, and risk factors.
Implement evidence-based, individualized management strategies for patients with dysbarism to optimize outcomes and reduce the risk of complications.
Improve patient awareness of early symptoms of dysbaric illness, pressure-exposure risk factors, and the importance of seeking prompt medical evaluation following activities associated with significant pressure changes, such as diving or flying.
Collaborate with the interprofessional team to educate, treat, and monitor patients who have or are at risk for dysbarism to improve clinical outcomes and reduce morbidity and mortality.
