Target Audience
This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of physicians, physician associates, nurses, pharmacists, and nurse practitioners.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the learner will be better able to:
Identify risk factors associated with bladder stone formation, including urinary stasis, bladder outlet obstruction, infection, and contributing metabolic or dietary factors.
Screen at-risk patients, including those with benign prostatic hyperplasia or neurogenic bladder, for bladder stones in the presence of suggestive symptoms or recurrent urinary complications.
Select the most appropriate management strategy for bladder stones, including medical therapy in select cases and endoscopic or open surgical intervention, based on stone size, composition, symptom burden, and patient-specific factors.
Implement interprofessional collaboration among clinicians, nurses, radiologists, and urologic specialists to coordinate evaluation, treatment, and follow-up care, thereby improving patient outcomes and reducing bladder stone recurrence.
